Saying Goodbye

I think it’s finally time to say goodbye. I stepped away from the blog back in September thinking I just needed a break to recharge my batteries. A few months turned into 9 months and I’m still enjoying my time away.

Blogging has been a great outlet for me. I started way back in June of 2011 when I was still in college. A lot has changed personally for me since then but my love of reading has never wavered. Blogging was a great way for me to keep track of the books I was reading as well as what I liked/didn’t like about the books.

Now I’m in a different stage of my life where blogging about all the books I read really isn’t a feasible goal. I have other things I would much rather spend my time on.

I do owe all of you out there a big thank you. There are the many authors who contacted me and gave me my first opportunities of professional reviewing. The many, MANY other bloggers who have shaped my reading tastes. I didn’t know you on a personal level but we knew each other enough that I could trust your judgement on books. You introduced me to so many things I never would have tried on my own. As a reader, you all know how special that kind of ‘relationship’ is.

With all that said, I’m not deleting The Cheap Reader. People are still coming across my blog. If reviews can help other readers, I’m happy for them to be found online. Who knows? Maybe in a few years I’ll get the blogging bug again and feel the urge to start blogging again.

Thank you for reading.

Alison

  1. Although I do admire that you know when it is personally time to say goodbye, I’m so very sorry to see you go. I enjoyed the easy-going tone and depth of your reviews as well as the “Quick Thoughts” posts. I wish you all the best in the books you’ll read in the future as well as the other things you do.

    • Thank you Jillian.

Thank you also for the inspiration to pick up more classics. I never thought they were my cup of tea. Turns out I was wrong!

What are your thoughts? (Comments are moderated. Yours will be up as soon as I read it!)
