Unboxing February 2015 Uppercase Box

I decided to splurge a bit and treat myself to a book subscription service/box. Since I read tons of YA, Uppercase Box was the natural choice for me. I decided to start off with the Expert Pick which means I’ll get the same book as everyone else. There’s also a Personalized Recommendation option if you’d like to pay a bit more.

This month’s main selection had mature themes so Uppercase was kind enough to notify subscribers of this before sending the book out. They offered another choice for those who didn’t want a mature book. I’m never a fan of language and sexual content so I opted for the other choice. I really appreciated being given the choice.

Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson

I’m not a huge YA contemporary fan so we’ll see how I like it. My friends on Goodreads seemed to really enjoy it though.

Book Accessory

I don’t like the way sunglasses look on me so I never wear them. I’ll probably never wear these overly juvenile glasses. I know they’re on the book cover but who looks good in these?! It’s disappointing to get an accessory that I’ll never use.

Verdict? I certainly like the idea of the box but I wasn’t overjoyed with the contents of the first box. I’m hoping I’ll change my mind when I get a chance to read the book.

    • That is true. I’m hoping it’s a good mix of contemporary and fantasy/sci fi. That’s good to hear you’re enjoying her. I hope I like it when I get a chance to read it.

  1. I like the idea of these services but by the time you add the shipping to Canada it is always CRAZY expensive I find. And I would hate to be disappointed after spending so much money on it. 😦

    • Eeek, I just looked up the price for shipping to Canada and it’s really expensive. :-/ I hope they start up some Canada based services for you guys. I’d hate for you to always be left out.

  3. I actually saw this promo in my email which was actually annoying because it was a “confirm subscription” so they used my email without telling me… Anyway, IMO i think it’s really not worth it because it would be easier to just go out and buy the book. Plus, the accessory looks really cheap 😦

    • Eeek. That’s no good. I got an email from them to my blog email address when I signed up with my personal email. I’m going to give it another month or two and see if it gets better.
