As you might have heard, Veronica Roth released the title of the 3rd book in the Divergent series this week. It’s called Allegiant.
Here are some titles that I think the book should have called.
- Convergent*
- Emergent
- Resurgent
- Conferment
- Assurgent
*Convergent is my favorite of titles. I’m honestly a bit bewildered that it’s not the real title.
What do you think the book should have been titled?

These are great! I’m interested in reading the book to see the meaning behind Allegiant. It will always be Detergent to me though 🙂

I don’t know if I’ll read the third book. I was so disappointed by the 2nd book. If I read it, it will be only to get closure. I hate to leave a series hanging.
Yeah, it’s taken me almost a year to read this one so I’ll probably be super late to the next book as well. I’m like you and will only read it to finish off the series.
Haha I totally agree!!! I think it should have rhymed like the first two did. Also, a lot of people didn’t know Allegiant was a real word because we really use it as allegiance and not allegiant. Oops! I think it’s kind of funny that it was this big title reveal and I think a lot of people were bummed about it!
I was a little thrown by the title too. I had to double check to make sure it was a real word. 😛
I was hoping that she’d make her code name for book 3, Detergent, the real title. 🙂
Honestly, depending on what happens in the book, any of the first 3 on your list sound better than Allegiant.

I had been predicting Convergent too! I don’t get Allegiant. Allegiant to whom exactly? Well, I guess we’ll find out.
That is the big question. Maybe they’re having to choose from their own leadership or the “outsiders” who are still around.
