About Me

Hello! Welcome to my blog.

I’m Alison. I’m still trying to get my footing with Adulthood. I grew up a reader but fell away from it while in high school and college. I’m free from school for the time being so I’m reading as much as I can! I work in a library and am considering going back to school to become a Youth Services librarian.

The Cheap Reader is my place to talk books. I talk about everything from the books I’ve read, the books I want to read, book lists, general bookish conversations, book deals, to incorporating books into my library programming. I don’t consider myself a book reviewer per se. I just talk about what I liked or didn’t like about the book.

For the most part, I read Young Adult and Middle Grade books. I’ve been trying to push myself to read outside my comfort zone lately so you will see a bit more variety with the books I’ve been reading recently. Science Fiction and Fantasy books make up a good portion of my TBR pile but I’m a fan of Historical Fiction and on occasion Contemporary Fiction.
