This Week (28)

Books Acquired*

Sweet Venom by Tera Lynn Childs [Kindle freebie] I love Greek mythology so I grabbed it since it was free.

Broken Shell Island: A Long Way From Home by Dalya Moon [the author] I loved Broken Shell Island. It’s a wonderful fantasy book. Dalya had good luck with the book so she decided to try her hand at writing the sequel as a serial. The first installment was released this week. Dalya surprised me by sending over the first installment. Yay! I can’t wait to read it.

Bring the Pain and The Time Traveling Bullet by Sybil Nelson [bought] I love the first two Priscilla the Great books. I couldn’t pass up the sale. The sale is all the books are $.99 each for Kindle and Nook. If you love fun action adventure books, give these books a try!

Hastings had a half price sale going on their used products. I might have gone a bit crazy. Thankfully, it was all pretty cheap. I got 5 books for less than $9! AND 3 of them are the beautiful Puffin classics. I’m in love with them!

You can see the books I bought below:

(WordPress hates me and always screws up the pictures not matter what I do. Sorry about the weird picture sizes.) BTW, I bought the Anne books in preparation for the Anne of Avonlea Read Along. If you’ve never read the books or you’re looking to reread the series, please join us! 🙂

Reading Plans

I’m currently The Software: Virus on Orbis 1 by P.J. Haarsma. I’ve had it for a long time. Probably since I bought my Kindle? I decided to finally read it because it’s a staff pick at work! It’s enjoyable so far.

When I get through that, I’m going to read The Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan as soon as it’s delivered. I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump lately and haven’t been too motivated to read (or maybe work is just kicking my butt?). I’m sure this will jump start my reading.

October starts tomorrow and BHA is going to read Unwind by Neal Shusterman. I’d like to get to that soon. Join us if you’d like to read Unwind and want to talk to people about it!

What did you get this past week? What are you planning on reading this week?

*I’m linking up to Stacking the Shelves hosted by Tynga’s Reviews and Showcase Sunday hosted by Books, Biscuits, & Tea. I miss seeing all the good books people get! I’m sure my TBR list doesn’t miss it though.

  1. An Anne of Avonlea read along? It’s been such a long time since I read the whole series and re-reading Anne of Green Gables earlier this year made me wonder if I should go back and read the books from start to finish. I’m not sure I’m going to have time but I’ll be stopping by to see what people are saying.

    • Yes! I’m excited. BHA is what inspired Elizabeth and I do try it with the next book. I hope you can join us! It’s going to be laid back again. You have the whole month to read the book.

  2. Great haul! I love the Pendragon books and Sweet Venom has been a very popular freebie this week. Happy reading! If you would like to check out my Stacking The Shelves post you can do so here. 🙂

  3. I hate when I get in a reading slump! The last time I was in one, I told a coworker (who is a librarian) and she said she has never heard that term before. Hopefully Rick Riordan will help you get out of your reading slump.

What are your thoughts? (Comments are moderated. Yours will be up as soon as I read it!)
