Listed: Redheads!

ListedI’m a redhead. I’ve always been fond of redheads in books (and other media). They usually end up being my favorite characters. I always feel connected to them. I guess just because I don’t come across too many fellow redheads in my day to day life. This Listed feature includes some redheads in books I’ve read and are on my reading list!

Who are some of your favorite redheads? Am I missing someone obvious on my list?

  1. I was born as a milk-blond child but with years I have turned into redhead and after all I am …. boah… have no idea, I can’t describe it, grey-brown that actually is not brown? xDD
I wish I would stay blond or redhead ❤
And I didn't like Ginny in movies, her face was going on my nerves every time I saw her

  2. Chloe Camden from Welcome Caller, This is Chloe by Shelley Coriell…I just finished this fabulous YA book yesterday! Chloe is a perky, spunky, vivacious redhead with a penchant for vintage shoes…and she has a huge heart. You should totally check out this book!

  3. I am also a big fan of redheaded characters (being one myself, too!), but Anne Shirley is probably my all-time favorite. Marcus Flutie from the Jessica Darling series and Alexander from Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day are a couple notable redheaded boy characters to add to the list.

The funny thing is, I recently read a complaint about there being too many redheaded girls in books these days (it was a review that I can’t find again of Welcome Caller, This is Chloe) and that we need more brunette characters. I have to imagine there are a disproportionate number of blonde and redhead characters in accordance to the actual population. (…and that leads us to the whole mess of the underrepresentation of non-white people in YA/children’s lit, so I’ll quit before I unlighten the mood in your fun little post!)

  4. Anne (with an e :)) and Ginny always come to mind. Pippi I fotgot about though! She must be on the list too. 🙂

  5. LOVE this! I’m a redhead too and am always drawn to other reds. Love all the Weasleys of course. Also love Mallory Pike from The Baby Sitter’s Club (wow that brings back memories!).

  6. As a Canadian, thought not from PEI, I have to say ANNE SHIRLEY ROCKS 🙂 I also love Pippi Longstockings and, of course, the Weasley Family. Great choices 🙂
